New Delhi witnessed a profound address by President Droupadi Murmu on Friday as she inaugurated the All India Conference and launched the Brahma Kumaris’ nationwide ‘Karmayoga for Empowered India’ campaign. The event also marked the silver jubilee celebrations at the Om Shanti Retreat Centre in Gurugram.
In her keynote speech, President Murmu emphasized that true national progress demands more than material advancement. ‘Balanced and holistic development requires integrating physical progress with moral values and spirituality,’ she stated firmly.
Highlighting the benefits of economic growth, she noted how it fosters prosperity while technological advancements drive innovation, efficiency, and competition—key pillars of a thriving nation. Yet, she cautioned that without ethical grounding, such progress can breed societal discord.
‘Unethical economic expansion leads to wealth concentration, environmental degradation, and exploitation of vulnerable groups,’ the President warned. She further stressed that technology, devoid of moral compass, could spell disaster for humanity.
Turning to spirituality, President Murmu described it as the bedrock providing fundamental values and an ethical framework. It inspires karmayoga—selfless service—and cultivates virtues like integrity, compassion, non-violence, and service to others.
‘These principles are vital for building a peaceful and just society,’ she asserted. When thoughts are rooted in spiritual values, individuals transcend selfishness, embracing welfare for all.
The President praised how spiritual leadership enables fair and impartial governance, prioritizing collective good over sectional interests. Such decisions build public trust and societal stability.
She commended the Brahma Kumaris’ Rajyoga education, which extends beyond meditation to embody karmayoga—fulfilling duties while upholding high spiritual standards. Millions associated with the organization lead purposeful lives through this practice.
President Murmu expressed optimism that every citizen, through karmayoga, can contribute to India’s sustainable and holistic growth. This vision positions India as a global model for value-based living amid economic advancement.
