New Delhi is abuzz with celebrations for National Girl Child Day, underscoring India’s unwavering commitment to empowering its daughters as the bedrock of national strength. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision has long championed this cause, shaping public policy and societal attitudes toward greater gender equality.

This transformative approach shines through in the life of Tarushi Gaur, a young taekwondo prodigy from Chandigarh. Starting her martial arts journey at just four years old, Tarushi embodies discipline, perseverance, and dedication. In a heartfelt video shared by ‘Modi Archive’ on X, she recounts her remarkable achievements: multiple medals from National School Games, Federation tournaments, and CBSE Nationals, culminating in a Guinness World Record.

The pinnacle came in 2022 on National Girl Child Day when she received the National Bal Shakti Puraskar directly from PM Modi. But beyond the award, it was their personal interaction that left an indelible mark. ‘Even as Prime Minister, he is so down-to-earth,’ Tarushi shares. ‘He talks to children with such warmth, motivating us to push harder. He told me not to stop now—keep working diligently ahead.’

PM Modi’s approachable demeanor eased the nerves of many young awardees, especially girls who were initially intimidated. ‘Some were scared about how to speak to the PM, but his aura made us all comfortable,’ Tarushi recalls. ‘We opened up and had great conversations.’

Initiatives like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and support for girls in education, sports, science, and innovation reinforce the message that empowered girls are key to nation-building. The live telecast of the award ceremony inspired countless schoolgirls across the country, showing them what’s possible.

As ‘Modi Archive’ notes on X, National Girl Child Day is more than a celebration—it’s a call to trust in our daughters, fuel their ambitions, and provide equal opportunities. When girls rise, India rises.
