New Delhi, February 9 – In the latest episode of the iconic ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful message to students on harnessing artificial intelligence without becoming its slave. Addressing a young audience eager for guidance, PM Modi emphasized self-mastery in the age of rapid technological advancement.
Responding to a question from Adi Vikram, a student from Coimbatore, who inquired whether one should fear AI’s growing dominance in workplaces and how to plan future careers, the Prime Minister drew from historical patterns. ‘Every era brings new technology debates,’ he noted, recalling fears around computers. ‘The key is not to fear it but to ensure you remain the decision-maker, not its servant.’
PM Modi highlighted a disturbing trend among youth: smartphones have become their overlords. ‘Many children can’t eat without their mobile or survive without TV,’ he observed starkly. ‘This is slavery in disguise.’ He urged students to resolve firmly: ‘I am no slave. I will use technology to the fullest.’
Using a practical example, he explained the right way to engage with AI. ‘Ask it where to find a good book on a topic – that’s helpful guidance. But demanding it summarize the book’s content without reading? That’s a grave mistake.’
The Prime Minister advocated evolving the nature of jobs by integrating technology’s strengths with personal value addition. ‘Understand technology, expand yourself through it,’ he said. ‘No matter how advanced the tools become, you’ll reap the benefits and have nothing to fear.’
This session, part of the 9th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha, resonated deeply, reinforcing PM Modi’s vision of empowered youth who lead technology rather than follow it blindly. As students navigate career choices amid AI’s rise, his words serve as a timeless reminder of human agency.
