Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, marking a transformative moment for regional connectivity. In a grand ceremony at Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station, he flagged off the Meerut Metro and the flagship Namo Bharat train, heralding a new era of rapid transit.

This wasn’t just a local event. PM Modi inaugurated development projects worth nearly Rs 12,930 crore, boosting infrastructure across the region. Crowds had already gathered at the rally site hours before his arrival, buzzing with excitement.

One enthusiastic attendee told reporters, ‘This is an priceless gift for Meerut. The rapid rail won’t just benefit us—people from Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Haridwar will thrive too. Delhi feels like a neighbor now. What used to take four grueling hours on pothole-ridden roads is now a swift 50-minute journey.’

An RLD worker echoed the sentiment, calling it a ‘historic milestone.’ He praised PM Modi for ending the nightmare of hours stuck in traffic jams between Meerut and Delhi. ‘We’ve been liberated,’ he said.

Pradeep Dwivedi highlighted the broader impact: ‘The Namo Bharat project links Delhi-NCR seamlessly with Meerut. Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad—all connected. This will accelerate growth in villages and cities alike, propelling development to new heights.’

Another local celebrated India’s first high-speed train launch, slashing distances and opening opportunities. A woman at the venue added, ‘PM Modi is doing wonders for the nation. The metro will be a boon for students, making trips to Delhi for studies or medical care quicker and cheaper.’

As cheers filled the air, it’s clear this initiative is more than infrastructure—it’s a promise of progress, knitting communities closer and fueling economic momentum in western Uttar Pradesh.
