SINGUR, West Bengal – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday kickstarted a series of development initiatives in Singur, underscoring the central government’s unwavering dedication to transforming West Bengal’s fortunes.

In a rally brimming with optimism, PM Modi declared, ‘Our government stands firmly committed to West Bengal’s progress.’ He highlighted the launch of key infrastructure projects aimed at boosting agriculture, industry, and rural economy in the region long synonymous with political turbulence.

Singur, etched in memory for the 2008 Tata Nano controversy, now symbolizes revival. The Prime Minister inaugurated roads, irrigation canals, and farmer welfare schemes worth crores, promising to bury past divides under a new era of growth.

‘From farmlands to factories, Bengal will rise,’ Modi asserted, criticizing previous state governments for stalling progress. He pointed to doubled agricultural budgets and new rail connectivity as lifelines for locals.

The event drew thousands, waving saffron flags amid chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram.’ Local leaders from BJP hailed it as a ‘game-changer,’ while opposition TMC dismissed it as ‘election gimmickry’ ahead of polls.

Modi’s visit reinforces BJP’s aggressive push in Bengal, where development rhetoric clashes with Mamata Banerjee’s regional dominance. Projects include modern cold storages to cut post-harvest losses and skill centers for youth.

As dusk fell, Modi urged unity: ‘Development knows no party lines.’ With state elections looming, this Singur sortie signals Delhi’s blueprint for Bengal’s renaissance, one project at a time.
