In a stirring address marking the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked the timeless saga of cultural continuity and unyielding struggle that defines India’s sacred heritage. Speaking from the hallowed grounds of the Somnath Temple in Gujarat, PM Modi reminisced about the temple’s tumultuous history – from its repeated destruction by invaders to its glorious reconstruction post-independence, symbolizing the nation’s indomitable spirit.

The event, commemorating 75 years since the temple’s reconstruction, drew thousands of devotees and dignitaries. PM Modi highlighted how Somnath stands as a beacon of India’s civilizational resilience. ‘This temple is not just stone and mortar; it embodies the soul of Bharat,’ he declared, urging citizens to draw inspiration from its rebirth.

Delving into history, the Prime Minister recounted the 17 invasions that razed Somnath to the ground, yet each time, the flame of faith was rekindled by devoted Hindus. The pivotal moment came in 1947 when Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel championed its revival, overcoming political and communal hurdles. Today, Somnath gleams as a testament to that vision.

PM Modi’s special appeal resonated deeply: ‘Let us pledge to preserve our cultural heritage with the same fervor. In an era of global challenges, Somnath teaches us unity and self-respect.’ He called for youth involvement in heritage conservation, linking it to national pride and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The celebrations included cultural performances, temple rituals, and exhibitions on Somnath’s history. As the nation reflects on its journey, PM Modi’s words reinforce the unbreakable thread of India’s cultural identity, inspiring a renewed commitment to its preservation for future generations.
