New Delhi witnessed a heartfelt tribute from Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he paid homage to Bharat Ratna awardee and former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur on his birth anniversary. In a poignant post on X, PM Modi remembered Thakur’s unwavering commitment to simplicity and selfless service to the people.

‘My respectful salutations to former Bihar CM and Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpoori Thakur ji on his birth anniversary,’ Modi wrote. He highlighted how Thakur’s politics always centered on uplifting the exploited, deprived, and weaker sections of society. ‘His simplicity and dedication to public service will forever remain memorable and exemplary,’ the Prime Minister added.

Modi also shared an excerpt from one of his speeches, praising Thakur’s lifelong dedication to social justice. ‘Karpoori Thakur was always known for his simplicity. His entire life was devoted to social justice and the upliftment of the underprivileged. Even today, his honesty is cited as an example. He was a priceless gem of Mother India. Our government had the privilege of honoring him with the Bharat Ratna,’ Modi remarked.

Emphasizing Thakur’s enduring legacy, the PM stated that the BJP government views him as a source of inspiration. ‘Prioritizing the deprived, giving preference to the backward classes, and serving the poor – we are moving forward with this resolve,’ he affirmed.

The tributes extended beyond the Prime Minister. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also remembered Thakur on X, calling him a pioneer of social justice. ‘Remembering Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpoori Thakur ji on his birth anniversary with folded hands. By arranging reservations for the deprived, backward classes, women, and economically weaker sections, he established exemplary ideals of social justice,’ Shah posted.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary echoed similar sentiments, stating that Thakur’s struggle for social justice, equality, and public welfare will always be a source of inspiration.

Karpoori Thakur, often called the ‘Jananayak’ of Bihar, remains a towering figure in Indian politics for his contributions to social equity. His birth anniversary serves as a reminder of the values that continue to guide national leadership in fostering inclusive growth.
