New Delhi, March 8 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to India’s women on International Women’s Day, celebrating their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s progress. In a series of posts on X, he praised the unwavering determination, creativity, and enthusiasm of women across every sector, from science and technology to defense and public service.
‘My best wishes to the Nari Shakti of India on International Women’s Day. Women are shaping India’s progress with their resolve, creativity, and unique enthusiasm in every field. Their achievements inspire us and strengthen our collective resolve to build a Viksit Bharat,’ Modi wrote.
He emphasized that women empowerment remains at the core of government initiatives. ‘We are committed to creating opportunities for every woman to realize her full potential and contribute to India’s development journey,’ the Prime Minister added.
Modi highlighted the transformative changes in women’s lives over the past decade. Government schemes have empowered millions, breaking traditional barriers and fostering leadership.
According to MyGov India, over 10.5 crore Ujjwala connections have liberated women from smoke-filled kitchens, saving nearly 3 hours daily and improving health outcomes. The Swachh Bharat Mission’s 12 crore toilets have brought dignity, safety, and hygiene to countless households.
Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, 72% of houses are in the name of women, providing secure shelter and economic empowerment. More than 28 crore Jan Dhan accounts have integrated women into formal banking, paving the way for financial independence.
Women-led MSMEs on the GeM portal have secured orders worth over ₹80,000 crore, while 3 crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ are boosting rural economies. In Panchayati Raj institutions, 14.5 lakh elected women representatives – nearly 46% of the total – are driving grassroots democracy.
These milestones underscore India’s commitment to Nari Shakti, guiding the country toward a stronger, more inclusive future as it marches ahead.
