New Delhi witnessed a heartfelt gesture from Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he penned special messages to leaders of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura on their statehood anniversaries. In letters shared widely on social media, Modi celebrated the unique spirit and heritage of these northeastern gems.

To Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, the Prime Minister extended warm greetings, praising the state’s breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural tapestry woven by the Khasi, Garo, and Jaintia communities. He highlighted the people’s deep reverence for nature and their pioneering efforts in women’s empowerment, which continue to inspire the nation.

Recalling his 2016 visit to Shillong for the North Eastern Council meeting, Modi also paid tribute to the late P.A. Sangma on his 10th death anniversary, acknowledging his visionary leadership that propelled Meghalaya’s growth.

Turning to Tripura, Modi congratulated Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, lauding the state’s vibrant culture and dynamic populace. He reminisced about his 2025 visit during Navratri, where he offered prayers at the revered Tripura Sundari Temple and reviewed its development projects.

The Prime Minister commended Tripura’s economic surge, crediting government reforms for attracting investments and creating job opportunities for the youth. These strides have opened new horizons, transforming the state into a hub of progress.

For Manipur, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla received Modi’s congratulations, with the letter spotlighting the state’s artistic legacy and sporting prowess. Manipur’s athletes have showcased India’s discipline and strength on global stages.

Modi evoked the valor of Manipur’s freedom fighters, particularly Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s historic flag-hoisting there. ‘The sacrifices of Manipur’s bravehearts will forever be etched in our memory,’ he affirmed, underscoring their enduring legacy of courage and resilience.

These messages not only mark the occasions but also reinforce the Centre’s commitment to the Northeast’s holistic development, blending tradition with modernity.
