New Delhi witnessed a heartfelt message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday as he extended warm wishes to all on the occasion of National Girl Child Day. Taking to the social media platform X, the Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a life of dignity, opportunities, and hope for every girl child.

In his message, PM Modi highlighted the transformative efforts over the past decade. ‘We have focused on better education, skill development, and healthcare for girls,’ he stated. These initiatives have created an enabling environment where girls can thrive and contribute meaningfully to building a developed India.

Earlier, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, also shared her greetings. Emphasizing that ‘girls are the strength and foundation of society’s progress,’ she underscored the importance of their education, safety, and equal rights. Under PM Modi’s leadership, the ministry remains dedicated to the holistic development, protection, and empowerment of girls.

National Girl Child Day, observed annually on January 24, was initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2008. The day aims to raise awareness about gender discrimination, promote equal opportunities, and foster an environment where girls can emerge as empowered citizens. It addresses critical challenges like female foeticide, child marriage, and barriers to education and health.

This observance aligns seamlessly with India’s vision of women-led development and a Viksit Bharat by 2047. By challenging societal biases and promoting equal respect, it paves the way for girls’ comprehensive growth. On this day, leaders and citizens alike renew their pledge to provide every girl the chance to realize her dreams in a safe, inclusive space.

PM Modi’s message serves as a powerful reminder of the nation’s progress and the road ahead. As India marches towards empowerment, the focus on girl children remains central to achieving equitable growth and a brighter future for all.
