In a fiery speech that electrified the crowd, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unleashed a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of nurturing enmity with the state’s own people. Speaking at a massive rally in Singur, the birthplace of the TMC’s rise to power, Modi highlighted how Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress has betrayed the very farmers it once championed.

Singur, synonymous with the 2006 land acquisition protests that toppled the Left Front government, became the stage for Modi’s sharp critique. ‘Mamata ji is not just fighting the BJP; she is at war with Bengal’s people,’ Modi thundered, drawing thunderous applause. He reminisced about the Nandigram and Singur agitations that propelled Banerjee to power, only for her government to allegedly stifle dissent and development ever since.

Modi pointed to the stalled industrial projects and the persistent farmer distress under TMC rule. ‘Where Singur could have been a hub of prosperity, it remains a symbol of unfulfilled promises,’ he said, vowing that a double-engine government would bring back investment and jobs. The Prime Minister also slammed the TMC’s handling of recent violence, urging the people to reject ‘goonda raj’ in the upcoming elections.

The rally, attended by thousands, underscored the BJP’s aggressive push in West Bengal. As Modi wrapped up, his message was clear: Bengal deserves better than hostility from its own leader. With elections on the horizon, this showdown in Singur signals an intensifying battle for the state’s soul.
