CHANDIGARH: In a strongly worded statement, former Punjab minister and Congress leader Pargat Singh has rebuked both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their alleged disrespectful remarks about Sikh gurus. Speaking at a press conference here today, Singh emphasized that political rhetoric must never cross the line into sacrilege. “Our gurus are the guiding lights of Punjab’s soul. Neither AAP nor BJP has the right to tarnish their legacy with careless words,” Singh declared. He recounted recent instances where leaders from both parties made comments that the Sikh community found deeply offensive, sparking widespread outrage. Singh, a celebrated former Indian hockey captain, drew from his deep roots in Punjab’s cultural fabric to underline the gravity of the issue. “These gurus sacrificed everything for justice and equality. Insulting them is an attack on our shared heritage,” he added, urging all political outfits to exercise restraint.
