New Delhi: In a bold political statement, independent MP from Purnea and Congress leader Pappu Yadav has reacted sharply to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to move to the Rajya Sabha. Yadav insists that Nitish should hand over the reins of Bihar to his son Nishant Kumar to safeguard the future of the JD(U) party.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Yadav questioned the timing and rationale behind Nitish’s abrupt shift. ‘Workers have always stood by Nitish Kumar. The people of Bihar gave him their mandate, so why this betrayal now?’ he asked, highlighting the sense of disillusionment among supporters.
Yadav criticized the haste in the decision, especially announced on the festive day of Holi. ‘What was the urgency? On Holi, we embrace even enemies as friends. Was there some India-Pakistan war brewing that forced this move?’ he quipped, pointing to Nitish’s past health issues and questioning why he was reinstated as CM if a transition was already planned.
He warned that voters would soon demand answers. ‘The public made you the groom with their votes; how can you hand it over to someone else?’ Yadav urged Nitish not to transfer the mandate given by the people. ‘Leaders have betrayed the workers and public, not the other way around. The snake in the sleeve was within JD(U) itself.’
Yadav strongly recommended Nishant as the ideal successor. ‘To keep JD(U) safe, no face is better than Nishant for CM. Bihar’s NDA got support on Nitish’s name, but BJP can’t betray the voters. Making Nishant CM will preserve Nitish’s image and protect BJP’s reputation among allies.’
This comes amid speculation about Bihar’s political landscape, with Yadav’s comments adding fuel to debates on leadership transitions and party loyalty in the state.
