Pahalgam Attack and Operation Sindoor: Key Topics for Parliament’s Monsoon Session

The 2025 Monsoon Session of Parliament will include a focused discussion on ‘Operation Sindoor,’ India’s military response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The Lok Sabha will be the venue for this debate. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to speak. The discussion is expected to be a major point of contention between the ruling coalition and the opposition. The official agenda item is a ‘Special Discussion’ regarding India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, which followed the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Twenty-six civilians died in the April 22 attack in Jammu and Kashmir. India’s response involved precision strikes, Operation Sindoor, aimed at terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Since the start of the monsoon session on July 21, the Parliament has frequently adjourned due to the opposition’s insistence on discussing matters of public interest, including the Pahalgam terror attack and the SIR exercise being conducted by the Election Commission in Bihar.
