The Vice Presidential election saw NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan emerge victorious over INDIA’s Sudarshan Reddy. Radhakrishnan secured 452 votes, while Reddy received 300, resulting in a victory margin of 152 votes. The opposition, primarily the Congress party, has argued that despite the numbers, the election represents a moral and political defeat for the BJP. Voting commenced at 10 am on September 9th and concluded at 5 pm. Results were announced approximately two and a half hours later. The Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha and the Returning Officer, P C Modi, announced a voting percentage of 98.2%. Out of a total of 781 members in the electoral college, 767 cast their votes, including one postal ballot, with 15 votes deemed invalid.
