In a decisive anti-terror operation, security forces have launched a fierce assault on militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. Codenamed Operation Trash-1, the mission unfolded dramatically on Saturday morning when troops from the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF made fresh contact with terrorists in the Dolgam area.

Intelligence inputs from multiple sources were meticulously coordinated to trap the terrorists, who had been evading capture for nearly two weeks. The forces swiftly cordoned off the area, leading to intense gunfire exchanges that continue unabated. Officials confirmed the operation is ongoing, with reinforcements bolstering the perimeter to prevent any escapes.

This escalation follows stringent security measures implemented on Friday, including the suspension of mobile internet services across a wide region around the encounter site to disrupt militant communications.

The backdrop to Operation Trash-1 traces back to January 18, when a search operation in the Sonari general area northeast of Chatru turned into a prolonged gunfight. Tragically, an Army paratrooper made the supreme sacrifice during the clash. The soldier’s heroic efforts set the stage for intensified searches that culminated in today’s confrontation.

Security forces persisted with relentless combing operations over the past 12 days, finally pinning down the terrorists in Dolgam village. The Indian Army expressed profound grief over the paratrooper’s martyrdom, honoring his unparalleled courage and dedication to duty. As the encounter rages on, the nation watches closely, hoping for the neutralization of these threats to peace in the region.
