In a significant recognition of their bravery, nineteen Jammu and Kashmir Police officers and personnel have been awarded the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak for their decisive actions in ‘Operation Mahadev’. This prestigious award honors their valiant efforts in countering terrorism and upholding the safety of the region.

The distinguished recipients include IGP Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, along with DIG Pande Rajiv Omprakash, SSP Srinagar G V Sundeep Chakraborty, SPs Tanweer Ahmed Dar and Zoheb Tanveer, and DSPs Vikram Nag, Shakir Hassan, Mubashir Naiz, and Taseer Hamid. The award also celebrates the contributions of constabulary and technical support staff, highlighting the integrated approach to successful counter-insurgency operations.

The Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak is an esteemed accolade presented to individuals and teams for exemplary performance in specialized domains including intelligence, investigation, forensic science, and high-stakes operations. The awards were declared on October 31, 2025, on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti.

‘Operation Mahadev’ was a meticulously planned and executed mission in the challenging terrain near Dachigam National Park, Srinagar. This operation, initiated as a response to the fatal Pahalgam terror incident, successfully neutralized three Pakistani terrorists. Among them was Suleiman alias Asif, a key architect of the April 22 attack that tragically resulted in 26 civilian casualties. The successful conclusion of this operation reaffirms the J&K Police’s commitment to ensuring peace and security.
