Bhandara Ordnanace Factory Blast: A massive explosion rocked an ordnance factory in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district this morning, leaving one person dead while several others are feared trapped, officials told PTI. The incident occurred around 10:30 am, according to media reports. Rescue teams and medical personnel are conducting search operations at the blast site to locate survivors. Police confirmed the fatality, while efforts to ascertain the exact number of casualties are ongoing.
District Collector Sanjay Kolte provided further details, stating, “After the blast, firefighters and ambulances have been dispatched to the spot, and the rescue operation is currently underway. A roof has collapsed, which is being removed with the help of JCB. A total of 12 people are reported to be there, out of which 2 people have been rescued.”
The blast’s intensity was so severe that it was heard as far as 5 km away. Several videos surfaced on the social media ‘X’, shot from a distance, the clips show thick plumes of smoke billowing from the factory.

“There has been an accident of blast at Ordnance Factory, Bhandara today morning. The rescue and medical teams are deployed for survivors, and rescue is underway. Details will follow,” stated a PRO for Defence.
In first political reaction to the accident, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole told ANI, “This is the failure of the Modi government.”
