Recent Income Tax raids targeting the family and associates of the late Naba Kishore Das, a former BJD minister, have ignited speculation about the political future of his daughter, Dipali Das. Reports indicate that the BJD’s lack of public support for Dipali, amid the tax investigations, has caused considerable discontent among her supporters. Discussions are circulating within Jharsuguda’s political WhatsApp groups regarding the possibility of Dipali and her brother, Bishal Das, leaving the party. The absence of any public condemnation from the BJD leadership regarding the I-T actions has further intensified these discussions. The family’s meeting with the Chief Minister, after an unsuccessful attempt to get justice during the BJD rule, also adds to the complexity of the situation.
