In a pressing call amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Naveen Patnaik, Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly and Biju Janata Dal president, has voiced deep concern for Odia nationals stranded there. Posting on X on Monday, Patnaik highlighted how the intensifying conflict has left numerous migrant workers, professionals, students, and tourists from Odisha in perilous limbo.

Air services disruptions have compounded the crisis, stranding these individuals in uncertainty with their safety hanging in the balance. Families back home in Odisha are gripped by anxiety, eagerly awaiting news of their loved ones’ well-being. Patnaik emphasized the urgent need for national intervention to secure their evacuation.

“The rapidly escalating conflict in the Middle East is a grave concern for many Odishans,” Patnaik stated. He directly appealed to the Central government, urging immediate steps to rescue and repatriate all affected Odia citizens. Such swift action, he noted, would not only safeguard lives but also provide immense relief to distraught families across the state.

Patnaik’s post detailed the dire situation: disrupted flights leaving people vulnerable, with their health and security at risk. He specifically requested External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to prioritize the safe extraction of these Odishans from gunfire zones. This humanitarian plea underscores the broader implications of regional instability on Indian expatriates.

As global conflicts disrupt lives worldwide, Patnaik’s appeal serves as a reminder of the government’s role in protecting citizens abroad. Odisha’s leadership stands united in demanding prompt resolution, hoping for the swift return of its people to safety.
