Patna, Bihar erupted with news of a major police breakthrough as notorious gangster Rajiv Gop was nabbed in Mokama area late Friday. This hardened criminal, with a staggering 22 cases including murders, robberies, extortion, and kidnappings for ransom, has terrorized the region for years.
The arrest stemmed from a recent extortion complaint. On Republic Day night, Gop allegedly demanded Rs 25,000 from local resident Siddharth alias Sidhu in Moldiyar Tola. When Sidhu refused, Gop assaulted him and threatened his life. Sidhu’s mother, Ranjana Kumari, filed a formal FIR, prompting swift police action.
Floods SDPO-1 Anand Kumar Singh revealed that a dedicated team under SHO Kunal Kumar launched a trap based on intelligence. After a two-hour siege at Gop’s hideout, he was captured without resistance. Singh highlighted Gop’s ties to Lallu Mukhiya, a former RJD candidate from Barh assembly, known as Karnvir Yadav. Gop allegedly worked as his enforcer in contract dealings and other illicit activities.
Police records paint Gop as a key player in an organized crime syndicate, facing non-bailable warrants and IPC Section 302 murder charges among others, all registered at Mokama station alone. His capture sends ripples through Patna’s underworld.
Authorities have alerted all nearby stations to produce him in pending cases. A full probe into his network is underway. ‘No more tolerance for extortion rackets and threats,’ warned SDPO Singh, vowing relentless crackdowns on organized crime to restore peace in Bihar.
