A considerable decrease in temperature has been observed in North India after a prolonged period of intense heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates the southwest monsoon is advancing towards the northern and central regions. According to the weather department, India is expected to receive above-average rainfall in the last days of June. This forecast comes at a time when several regions are still under the grip of a severe heatwave, offering hope for cooler conditions. Heavy rainfall is anticipated from June 17th to 20th in West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. Other areas that are expected to be affected include Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, and West Rajasthan. Furthermore, the IMD has issued warnings concerning strong surface winds over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam. A yellow alert has been sounded for Delhi, anticipating rain in the city this week.
