Indian Railways is set to redesign its non-AC trains after a tragic incident on the Mumbai local train network claimed the lives of four commuters. The revamped trains will feature auto-closing doors and improved ventilation systems to mitigate the risks associated with overcrowded conditions. The Railway Board highlighted that the redesigned coaches will incorporate louvres on the doors, along with roof-mounted ventilation units. Vestibules will also be included to facilitate passenger movement between coaches. The project aims to be completed by November 2025 with deployment in January 2026.
