In a massive push for road safety, Gautam Buddh Nagar’s traffic police launched an intensive campaign under the 2026 Road Safety Month initiative. Directed by the Police Commissioner and overseen by the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic, Thursday’s special drive focused on enforcing traffic rules and educating the public.
Key locations like Sector-52 Metro Station road, Model Town roundabout, and Chijarsi trijunction buzzed with activity. Street plays captivated audiences, delivering powerful messages on road safety and traffic compliance. Vehicle drivers and pedestrians alike were urged to embrace the mantra: ‘Road Safety is Life Safety.’
Pamphlets detailing traffic signs and rules were distributed freely. ISI-marked helmets were handed out to two-wheeler riders, encouraging helmet usage. Participants took a solemn pledge to follow rules diligently.
Enforcement was equally robust. Police issued 3,293 manual challans and 4,106 e-challans via iSTMS cameras, totaling 7,399 violations penalized. Sixteen vehicles involved in serious offenses were impounded.
Breakdown of violations highlights common issues: 2,432 for riding without helmets, 810 for no-parking breaches, 392 for overspeeding, and 781 for wrong-side driving. Additional 131 challans for defective number plates and 393 for pollution norm violations.
Auto, tempo, and e-rickshaw drivers at high-traffic spots received targeted awareness sessions on signals and safety. Officials appealed to all drivers: wear helmets and seatbelts, maintain safe speeds, and strictly adhere to rules to prevent accidents and save lives.
