In a chilling incident that has stunned Noida residents, a 35-year-old homeless man was brutally murdered by his acquaintance over a petty sum of Rs 1,500. The crime unfolded in Sector 64 under Phase 3 police station limits, where the victim was first struck on the head with a stone before being shoved into a nearby drain, leading to his drowning.
Police were alerted on Thursday when a body was discovered floating in a drain in Sector 64. Rapid response teams, including senior officers and forensic experts, rushed to the scene. The deceased was identified as Rahul, a long-time resident of the footpaths in the area with no permanent address.
Investigations revealed that Rahul had a heated argument with Ravindra, a 30-year-old from Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, also living rough on the streets. The dispute stemmed from an unpaid debt of Rs 1,500. Tempers flared, and in a fit of rage, Ravindra smashed a stone into Rahul’s head, rendering him unconscious. Without remorse, he then dragged the injured man to the drain and pushed him in, where he succumbed to the water.
Law enforcement acted swiftly, securing the crime scene and dispatching the body for postmortem after detailed documentation. Forensic analysis is underway to corroborate the sequence of events. Ravindra was apprehended shortly after and is now under intense interrogation.
This tragic episode underscores the vulnerabilities faced by the homeless in urban fringes, where minor conflicts can escalate into fatal violence. Authorities assure a thorough probe and stringent action, as the community grapples with the horror of such street-level brutality.
