In a major breakthrough, Noida police have dismantled an interstate gang notorious for mobile phone snatching and two-wheeler thefts. The operation unfolded in Sector-8, leading to the arrest of two hardened criminals, Rahul alias Robert and Naveed.
Acting on manual intelligence and electronic surveillance, officers from Phase-1 police station apprehended the duo near F-133 in Sector-8 on February 2. From their possession, authorities recovered 10 motorcycles, 2 scooters, and Rs 2,000 in cash obtained from selling snatched mobiles.
Interrogation revealed a well-orchestrated modus operandi. The gang would first scout isolated areas for unattended two-wheelers, steal them, and then use these vehicles to carry out brazen mobile snatches from pedestrians. The stolen phones were quickly sold to passersby, with proceeds divided for personal indulgences.
Investigations point to the gang’s involvement in dozens of similar crimes across Noida, Delhi, and the NCR region. Rahul alias Robert boasts an extensive rap sheet with over 20 cases registered against him in Delhi and Gautam Buddh Nagar for theft, snatching, robbery, and other serious offenses. Naveed too has multiple cases to his name.
The recovered vehicles trace back to various districts in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, linking them to ongoing investigations. Police assure that rightful owners will be identified and vehicles returned promptly.
A case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at Phase-1 station. Further probes aim to uncover additional gang members and dismantle the broader theft network, signaling a strong stance against organized crime in the region.
