In a decisive move to reclaim public spaces and ease traffic congestion, the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA Authority) has rolled out a daily anti-encroachment campaign across the city. This initiative targets the rampant illegal occupations on roadsides, footpaths, and other public areas that have long plagued commuters and residents alike.
The campaign kicked off with coordinated operations involving all work circles from 1 to 10. Heavy machinery like JCBs and dumpers were deployed to each circle, ensuring swift and systematic removal of unauthorized vendors, makeshift stalls, and other obstructions. Key areas cleared included Zonal Road No. 3, DSC Road near New Ashok Nagar, MP-2 Road, Sectors 44, 51, 63, 65, 66, 70, 71, 35, 34, Hauz Rani Complex Phase-2, Gejha Tilpatabad village, Sector 93A, under Bhangel Elevated Road on DSC Road, Sectors 124, 126, 150, and 155-156.
Local residents have warmly welcomed the drive, highlighting years of frustration with traffic snarls caused by these encroachments. ‘We’ve been enduring chaos on our roads for too long; this is a much-needed relief,’ said one Sector 51 resident. The authority received numerous complaints from RWAs, FONRWA, industrial bodies, and citizens, prompting this rigorous response.
Officials emphasize that the daily operations will continue without fail, with strict enforcement against violators. Each work circle is now equipped for round-the-clock readiness, promising a more organized and safer urban environment. The NOIDA Authority urges public cooperation to sustain these gains, aiming for a city where smooth traffic flow and accessible public spaces are the norm.
This proactive step underscores NOIDA’s commitment to urban management excellence, setting a precedent for other growing cities grappling with similar issues.
