Patna’s political landscape is buzzing with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s announcement to contest for a Rajya Sabha seat, paving the way for his son Nishant Kumar’s entry into active politics. JD(U) senior leader Vashishtha Narayan Singh has come out in strong support, emphasizing that the decision was taken with dignity and without any compulsion.

In an exclusive conversation, Singh highlighted the emotional connect Bihar’s party workers share with Nitish Kumar. ‘Leaders sometimes face tough questions, but their final call stands supreme,’ he said. ‘Workers will miss him dearly, yet they’ll stand by his decision as the party continues to benefit from his guidance.’

Singh dismissed any notions of pressure on Nitish, calling it a respectful transition. Turning to Nishant Kumar, the leader sees immense potential in the young entrant. ‘Nishant brings fresh energy and possibilities. His involvement will inspire the youth, injecting enthusiasm into the party’s youth wing and beyond.’

Earlier, Nitish Kumar expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bihar’s people via a post on X. He reminisced about over two decades of unwavering trust that fueled Bihar’s development trajectory. ‘Your faith has elevated Bihar to new heights of progress and dignity,’ he wrote, reaffirming his commitment to a developed Bihar.

Nitish revealed a long-held aspiration to serve in both houses of the state legislature and Parliament. ‘Contesting Rajya Sabha this time fulfills that dream,’ he stated, assuring continued support and guidance to the incoming government. This move signals a generational shift while maintaining Nitish’s influential role in Bihar’s political future.
