In a significant political development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been nominated by his Janata Dal (United) party for the Rajya Sabha elections in 2026. This announcement has been met with widespread congratulations from NDA allies, underscoring the enduring influence of the veteran leader on Bihar’s governance.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh, a key BJP figure, was forthright in his praise. Speaking to the media, Singh emphasized that the Bihar government will continue to function strictly according to Nitish Kumar’s wishes, even after his potential shift to the Upper House. ‘Nitish Kumar expressed his desire to go to Rajya Sabha three years ago. No one can send him there now; he has gone on his own terms. The government will keep running as per his will,’ Singh declared.

Chirag Paswan, president of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Union Minister, took to social media platform X to extend his heartfelt wishes. ‘Heartiest congratulations and best wishes from the NDA alliance on your nomination to Rajya Sabha. We are confident that your experience, dedication, and spirit of public service will strengthen the interests of the nation and society in the Parliament’s upper house,’ Paswan posted.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary echoed similar sentiments on X, hailing Kumar’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to good governance. ‘Infinite congratulations and best wishes on being declared JD(U) candidate for Rajya Sabha elections 2026. Your farsighted leadership, steadfast dedication to good governance, and continuous efforts for Bihar’s overall development are an inspiration to us all,’ Chaudhary wrote.

Vijay Kumar Sinha, the other Deputy Chief Minister, also posted on X, lauding Kumar’s role in transforming Bihar. ‘Heartiest congratulations on being declared JD(U) candidate for 2026 Rajya Sabha polls. Your visionary leadership, strong tradition of good governance, and relentless dedication to Bihar’s development is an inspiration for the entire country,’ Sinha stated, adding that Kumar’s presence in Rajya Sabha would amplify Bihar’s voice nationally.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and BJP leader Babulal Marandi joined the chorus, reflecting on Kumar’s decades-long dominance in Bihar politics. ‘Nitish Kumar has been at the center of Bihar politics for three-four decades. His contribution in pulling the state out of jungle raj and establishing good governance is unparalleled,’ Marandi posted. He praised Kumar’s emphasis on integrity, honor, and ethics in public life, predicting that the Rajya Sabha would be enriched by his experience.

This wave of endorsements from across the NDA spectrum highlights Nitish Kumar’s pivotal role in Bihar’s political landscape. As he prepares for this new chapter, allies are optimistic that his seasoned guidance will continue to shape the state’s trajectory and contribute to national development agendas.
