Patna, March 7: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a thorough inspection of ongoing development projects in Bakhtiarpur, Patna district, today. Emphasizing the need for swift execution, he issued firm directives to officials to accelerate all works without compromising quality.

The CM’s tour began at the construction site of a vital two-lane railway overbridge (ROB) near Bakhtiarpur Engineering College. This bridge will seamlessly connect NH-30 with SH-106, revolutionizing connectivity between the old Patna-Bakhtiarpur road and the new four-lane highway. Officials assured that the project is on track for completion this month. Kumar stressed its importance for local residents, students, and faculty, promising reduced travel times and smoother traffic flow.

Moving ahead, he visited the new five-story building for Ganesh Higher Secondary School, featuring 45 classrooms designed to boost educational infrastructure. Recalling his own childhood studies at the old school building, Kumar shared nostalgic memories and ordered expedited construction to benefit students soon. Nearby, he reviewed progress on a park adjacent to the statue of freedom fighter Dumar Singh, instructing completion at the earliest.

The highlight was the site visit to the ambitious Bakhtiarpur-Tajpur four-lane bridge over the Ganga River, spanning 5.51 km with 45.75 km approach roads, totaling 51.26 km. Starting from Karjan in Patna district to Tajpur in Samastipur, this mega project will link North and South Bihar, easing pressure on Mahatma Gandhi Setu and Rajendra Setu. Kumar was briefed by Road Construction Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal that works are progressing rapidly, targeting year-end finish. He demanded even faster pace, highlighting benefits like easier access to tourist spots, religious sites, schools, and hospitals, plus an alternative route for vehicles from Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, and Begusarai.

Local residents gave a rousing welcome, expressing gratitude for the developmental push. Accompanying Kumar were former MLA Gyanendra Singh Gyanu, senior officials including Principal Secretary Kumar Ravi, District Magistrate Dr. Thyagarajan S.M., and SP Kartikey K. Sharma. This visit has injected fresh enthusiasm among locals for Bihar’s growth trajectory under Kumar’s leadership.
