Patna, February 5: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar continues his hands-on approach to overseeing the state’s ambitious development projects. On Thursday, he made a detailed inspection of the ongoing works at Digha Tourism Ghat along the banks of the Ganga River in Patna, issuing clear directives to officials to elevate the site into a premier tourist destination.

During the visit, CM Kumar was briefed on the transformation of Janardan Ghat into a full-fledged tourism hub by the Tourism Department. Emphasizing a holistic upgrade, he instructed authorities to construct an integrated garden at the ghat. ‘Convert it into a permanent structure,’ he directed, ‘to facilitate proper arrangements for Ganga Aarti. This will allow thousands of visitors to immerse themselves in the spiritual ambiance, fostering a devotional atmosphere across the region.’

The Chief Minister highlighted the need for top-notch basic amenities for tourists cruising the Ganga. ‘Ensure no visitor faces inconvenience,’ he stressed, underscoring the importance of seamless facilities to boost tourism.

In a related development push, Nitish Kumar also reviewed progress on the new six-lane Ganga bridge being built parallel to the JP Setu. Urging officials to accelerate the timeline, he said, ‘Complete the construction swiftly to provide relief to commuters.’ Once operational, the bridge will significantly reduce traffic pressure on the aging JP Setu and streamline connectivity between North and South Bihar, revolutionizing regional travel.

Senior officials present included Principal Secretary to CM Deepak Kumar, Secretary Kumar Ravi, and Tourism Secretary Nilesh Ramchandra Devre. This inspection follows Kumar’s review of redevelopment works at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) the previous day, where he mandated high-quality execution.
