Nitish Kumar Forced to Rajya Sabha by BJP Pressure: RJD

Patna’s political corridors are buzzing with fresh controversy as RJD leader Shakti Yadav accuses the BJP and central leadership of strong-arming Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar into a Rajya Sabha nomination. Speaking to reporters, Yadav claimed the decision was not voluntary but made under intense pressure during a secretive one-hour meeting behind closed doors.

Nitish Kumar filed his nomination papers on Thursday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a move that has sparked widespread debate. While the CM posted on X earlier that day affirming his readiness to represent Bihar in the Upper House, opposition voices are crying foul.

‘Our sympathy lies with Nitish ji. We wish him good health, but this isn’t his choice. BJP and the Centre forced him into this,’ Yadav asserted. He questioned the urgency, noting that Nitish could have chosen any time for such a shift, especially since the recent assembly mandate was secured on his name by the NDA.

Yadav highlighted growing discontent within JD(U) ranks. Supporters are furious, refusing to accept their leader’s exit from state politics at this juncture. He recalled the 2025 election slogan ’25 se 30, phir se Nitish,’ questioning why the BJP is now prematurely sidelining the veteran leader.

Echoing Tejashwi Yadav’s earlier prediction that BJP would dismantle JD(U) before the budget session ends, Shakti Yadav warned of an impending split in the party. ‘Fear grips JD(U) leaders, and grassroots workers are seething with anger. This game by BJP signals the end of JD(U) as we know it,’ he concluded, painting a grim picture of Bihar’s ruling alliance.
