After a lengthy legal process spanning 17 years, the NIA court issued its verdict on July 31, 2025, in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, acquitting all accused. Among those acquitted were Sadhvi Pragya Singh and Lt. Col. Purohit. The court dismissed all charges under the UAPA, Arms Act, and other laws. The court noted that the prosecution’s evidence was insufficient to link the bomb to the motorcycle and found inconsistencies in the medical records related to the injured. The court ordered Rs 2 lakh in compensation for the families of the six victims and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The court also commented that terrorism has no religious affiliation. Advocate Shahid Nadeem indicated that the victims’ families would challenge the acquittal in the High Court.
