Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation via video conferencing, focusing on the government’s recent GST reforms aimed at boosting the economy and simplifying business operations. He highlighted that the reduced GST rates would lower costs for consumers, making homes, vehicles, and consumer goods more accessible. This initiative marks the beginning of a nationwide ‘GST Bachat Utsav,’ a step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and inclusive growth. Modi specifically pointed out that personal dreams, such as owning a home, purchasing household appliances, and buying vehicles, would become more attainable. He also noted that travel costs would be reduced with lower GST rates on most hotel rooms. The Prime Minister acknowledged the positive response from shopkeepers who are actively sharing the benefits of the GST reductions with their customers. He noted the widespread display of price comparisons to illustrate the savings. Addressing the nation during the commencement of Navratri, Modi linked the reforms to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign. Beginning September 22, the Next Generation GST reforms will be implemented, launching a GST Bachat Utsav to enhance savings and simplify purchases.
