With just one day left before the crucial Rajya Sabha elections, political tensions are running high across India, particularly in Bihar where the NDA is brimming with confidence. Bihar Deputy Speaker and JD(U) leader Narendra Narayan Yadav asserted that the NDA will secure all five seats up for grabs in the state. ‘We have every reason to be optimistic,’ he declared, emphasizing the coalition’s strong position.
On the other side, Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput countered with equal fervor, insisting that the INDIA alliance has the strategy and strength to clinch at least one seat. Speaking exclusively, Rajput highlighted the leadership of RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in Bihar, saying their candidate’s victory is assured regardless of maneuvers by BJP or JD(U).
BJP minister Ram Kripal Yadav ramped up the rhetoric, predicting a rout for the RJD. ‘Tejashwi won’t last; their votes will shift to us,’ he proclaimed, urging RJD members to join the NDA for a secure political future. Meanwhile, RJD MLA Bhai Virendra acknowledged the NDA’s likely hold on four seats but firmly staked claim to the fifth for the Mahagathbandhan.
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar revealed ongoing meetings with coalition legislators to ensure smooth voting procedures. These biennial polls for 37 seats across 10 states, including Bihar’s five, are set for Monday. Maharashtra leads with seven seats, followed by Tamil Nadu and West Bengal with six and five respectively. As parties whip up support, Bihar remains the hottest battleground, with both sides exuding unshakeable confidence ahead of the vote.
