In a thrilling display of courage and skill, 594 NCC cadets from the Army and Navy wings of NCC Group Jamnagar are taking to the skies over Mandvi beach in Gujarat’s Kutch district. This special paragliding training, part of the state joint annual camp running from January 14 to 23, is organized by the 36 Gujarat Battalion NCC in Bhuj.

The camp emphasizes adventure sports to build leadership, teamwork, physical fitness, and mental resilience among the young participants. Under the watchful eyes of certified instructors, cadets are mastering the basics of paragliding, including equipment handling, takeoff and landing techniques, in-air balance, and navigation.

Mandvi’s pristine beaches provide the perfect backdrop for this exhilarating activity. Cadets shared how the experience helps conquer fears, boosts confidence, and tests personal limits. Brigadier P. Shashi, Group Commander of NCC Group Jamnagar, highlighted paragliding as the camp’s star attraction, offering cadets a golden chance to learn new skills and embrace self-reliance.

Senior cadet Rachna Jodha praised the jeep paragliding sessions guided by retired Army and Air Force officers, calling it an enriching addition to routine NCC drills. Jessica Dhanani added excitement about drone operation training, noting its relevance in modern operations and government initiatives to equip youth with cutting-edge tech.

Retired Captain A.S. Sokin, leading the paragliding instruction, emphasized rigorous safety briefings and equipment checks to ensure secure flights. He urged youth to step away from screens and dive into real-world adventures that foster confidence and boldness.

This camp not only hones technical abilities but also ignites a spirit of adventure, preparing India’s future leaders for challenges ahead.
