New Delhi, February 27: Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi unleashed a sharp critique of the recent chaos at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), labeling the protests as baseless attempts to vitiate the national atmosphere. Drawing from his own student activism days, Naqvi emphasized that while he and his peers had protested passionately—even facing imprisonment—they never resorted to demonstrations devoid of facts or boundaries.
In an exclusive conversation, Naqvi questioned the very nature of these protests: ‘What kind of agitation lacks any factual basis and respects no limits?’ He argued that such actions lose all legitimacy and are merely tools to spoil the environment, a tactic that India cannot tolerate under any circumstances.
Turning to the NCERT textbook controversy, Naqvi noted the Supreme Court’s intervention and the central government’s proactive steps toward rectification. ‘There’s no need to blow this out of proportion now,’ he asserted, urging restraint.
Naqvi didn’t spare the Congress party, accusing it of refusing to accept the people’s mandate. ‘In its current state, Congress has turned against democracy itself—a stance utterly unacceptable,’ he declared. He claimed the party, frustrated by electoral outcomes, now exploits national and international issues to mislead the public, sowing confusion and fear on every front.
The BJP stalwart’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions, underscoring the need for responsible discourse in India’s vibrant democracy. As protests continue to make headlines, Naqvi’s call for fact-based activism resonates across the political spectrum.
