Nagpur is set for a major healthcare upgrade with a state-of-the-art 350-bed multi-specialty hospital on the horizon. Quality Care India Limited (QCIL) has received the Letter of Acceptance to build this facility near Kasturchand Park Metro Station, marking a significant boost to medical services in Maharashtra and central India.
The project operates under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in collaboration with Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro). The agreement was sealed on February 7 during the Advantage Vidarbha Summit, attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Care Hospitals CEO Dr. Pavan Kumar was also present at the event.
Strategically located on Maha-Metro land adjacent to a key urban transport hub, the hospital will span over 7202 square meters, enabling development of more than 350,000 square feet. With foundation and parking work already underway, completion is expected within three years. QCIL plans to invest around 600 crore rupees in this venture.
The facility will feature Centers of Excellence in cardiology, oncology, gastroenterology, trauma care, and neurosciences, providing advanced treatment options locally. This development promises relief for Vidarbha residents, reducing the need to travel to larger cities for specialized care.
Employment prospects are bright, with 1500 to 1800 direct jobs and additional indirect opportunities. Maha-Metro stands to gain over 1850 crore rupees over a 60-year lease, including premiums, annual fees, and other charges.
QCIL Group Managing Director Varun Khanna highlighted the project’s role in fostering structured PPPs for accessible, integrated healthcare. He emphasized linking health infrastructure with urban growth to create scalable models, crucial for enhancing regional capacity in tier-2 and tier-3 markets like Nagpur.
Dr. Pavan Kumar praised the partnership’s potential to build resilient healthcare aligned with community needs. He commended the support from Fadnavis and Gadkari, noting the hospital’s contribution to Nagpur’s socio-economic fabric through high clinical standards.
Backed by Blackstone, QCIL manages Care Hospitals, Evercare Bangladesh, and KIMS Health Kerala. Established in 1997 with headquarters in Hyderabad, Care Hospitals operates 17 facilities across seven cities in six states, boasting over 3000 beds and services in more than 33 specialties. This Nagpur addition reinforces QCIL’s commitment to decentralizing quality healthcare and strengthening regional medical ecosystems.
