In a significant boost to women’s empowerment in Madhya Pradesh, the state government has released the 32nd installment of the Ladli Behna Yojana, transferring more than ₹1,836 crore directly into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. This timely disbursement underscores Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s commitment to financial independence for women across the state.
Launched in 2023 by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the flagship scheme provides ₹1,250 monthly to women aged 21 to 60 from economically weaker sections. With this latest payout, the total assistance under the program has now crossed unprecedented milestones, benefiting millions and stimulating local economies.
The funds were seamlessly credited on Thursday, reaching over 1.46 crore Ladli Behna accounts without any reported delays. Officials from the Women and Child Development Department confirmed that the entire process was digitized, ensuring transparency and efficiency. This installment arrives ahead of the festive season, offering much-needed relief to families preparing for Diwali celebrations.
CM Yadav took to social media to announce the good news, hailing the scheme as a ‘game-changer’ for rural women. ‘Ladli Behna is not just a scheme; it’s a promise of self-reliance,’ he posted, accompanied by images of smiling beneficiaries receiving SMS alerts about the credit.
Since inception, the Yojana has disbursed over ₹58,000 crore in total, transforming lives by enabling women to cover household expenses, education, healthcare, and small business ventures. Economic analysts note a visible uptick in rural consumption and female workforce participation attributed to this steady income stream.
However, the government faces scrutiny over sustainability amid fiscal pressures. Critics argue for skill-building components alongside cash transfers to ensure long-term empowerment. Undeterred, authorities plan to sustain the scheme, with assurances of uninterrupted monthly payouts.
As Madhya Pradesh gears up for upcoming elections, the Ladli Behna Yojana remains a cornerstone of the BJP’s welfare agenda, resonating strongly with women voters who form a crucial demographic.
