In a significant move to promote sustainable agriculture, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav chaired an Agriculture Cabinet meeting in Nagalwadi, Barwani district. The key decision was to select 25 local farmers for advanced training outside the state, transforming them into master trainers for natural farming techniques.
Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a national leader in natural farming practices, and this initiative underscores the state’s commitment. CM Yadav highlighted that these trained farmers will play a pivotal role in disseminating chemical-free farming knowledge across the region, fostering a greener revolution.
The cabinet approved substantial funding totaling Rs 27,746 crore for farmer welfare schemes. A standout project is the Barla Lift Micro Irrigation initiative under the Narmada Valley Department, set to irrigate 15,500 hectares across 33 villages in the tehsil at a cost of approximately Rs 861 crore.
Breaking down the allocations, the Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Department receives Rs 3,502.48 crore. Horticulture and Food Processing has three schemes worth Rs 4,263.94 crore. Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development gets Rs 9,508 crore for four schemes, while Fisheries Welfare allocates Rs 218.50 crore for two initiatives. Cooperation Department schemes total Rs 8,186 crore, and Narmada Valley Development adds Rs 2,067.97 crore.
CM Yadav emphasized the government’s unwavering dedication to farmers, stating, ‘Our commitment is to empower farmers and propel the state towards prosperity.’ He also announced plans to position Barwani as a tourism hub, with more development projects on the horizon.
This comprehensive strategy not only boosts agricultural productivity but also aligns with national goals for eco-friendly farming, promising long-term benefits for Madhya Pradesh’s rural economy.
