Bhopal’s health sector is set for a major push as Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla emphasized the urgent need for timely recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff. Speaking during a high-level review meeting of public health and medical education departments, Shukla linked the availability of skilled medical professionals directly to the quality of healthcare delivery across Madhya Pradesh.
He called for regular monitoring of recruitment processes handled by the Public Service Commission and Staff Selection Board. ‘All formalities must be completed on priority to ensure no delays,’ Shukla directed, underscoring that seamless hiring is crucial for strengthening the state’s health infrastructure.
Special attention was given to filling remaining vacancies for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) and initiating recruitment for specialist doctors. Shukla stressed the development of Community Health Centers into First Referral Units, which requires prompt deployment of experts. This move aims to bolster maternal and child health services, effectively curbing maternal and infant mortality rates.
The meeting also tackled challenges in nursing teacher recruitment, with instructions to amend rules and send clarifications to the General Administration Department swiftly. Progress on medical colleges in Budhni, Mandla, Sagar, and Rewa was reviewed, with directives to expedite revised approvals and complete development works on schedule.
Advanced cancer treatment facilities in Rewa, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and other identified colleges received a green light for infrastructure upgrades and equipment procurement. The goal is to provide top-tier cancer care locally, reducing the need for patient referrals elsewhere.
CM Day Care Scheme implementation was discussed, with orders to prepare proposals for cabinet approval. Upgradation of sub-health and primary health centers was prioritized, ensuring timely budget releases and no departmental lapses. Construction at upcoming medical colleges in Budhni, Chhatarpur, and Damoh is nearing completion, with plans for operationalization next session, complete with furniture, equipment, and staffing to secure NMC approval.
