CHENNAI – The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has predicted moderate rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu’s Western Ghats over the next two days, while the rest of the state is likely to remain dry. This forecast comes as a brief respite for the hilly regions amid largely stable weather conditions across the region.

In a detailed statement, meteorologists indicated light to moderate showers at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts on Monday and Tuesday. The rain activity is expected to be scattered, confined to hilly and nearby areas, with no widespread precipitation anticipated.

Meanwhile, the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, along with the Union Territory of Puducherry and Karaikal, are set for dry weather. Officials attribute this to the absence of any significant weather system influencing large swathes of the state, leading to stable atmospheric conditions.

Looking ahead, the weather department has forecasted moderate rain in southern Tamil Nadu by February 26. While specifics on intensity and coverage remain tentative, the showers are likely to be limited to select districts in the south.

Temperatures across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are not expected to fluctuate dramatically in the coming days. Daytime highs may see a slight uptick but should hover around seasonal norms. In Chennai, expect partly cloudy skies throughout the day, with possibilities of light mist in the early morning hours at isolated spots.

The city’s maximum temperature is projected between 33-34°C, with minimums ranging from 24-25°C. Residents in Western Ghats districts, particularly in hilly terrains, have been advised to stay cautious due to the potential for light rain, though no major weather disruptions are foreseen statewide.

This pattern underscores the typical variability of Tamil Nadu’s weather, where localized events often dominate without affecting the broader landscape. Farmers and commuters in affected areas should monitor updates closely for any changes.
