Meghalaya Minister Alexander Laloo Hek has strongly condemned the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, describing it as a “pure organized and a pre-planned crime.” Following the court’s decision, all five suspects, including Sonam Raghuvanshi, are in police custody for eight days. The Minister stated the government and the public seek justice, demanding the accused be punished as per the law. He expressed gratitude that Raja Raghuvanshi’s family had offered an apology after the initial shock and blame directed towards the police and the people of Meghalaya. Hek commended the police for their swift action in apprehending the culprits, and he noted that the discovery of a mangalsutra and a ring could be a critical piece of evidence. Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam, were on their honeymoon in Meghalaya when Raja was murdered. The incident occurred in Sohra, near Cherrapunji.
