A thunderous explosion shattered the calm in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district on Thursday, as a massive blast ripped through the Meherun Industry chemical factory in the Kapasan Rico Industrial Area. The deafening sound echoed up to 5 kilometers away, sending shockwaves that left the entire region trembling in fear.

Thick black smoke billowed high into the sky from the factory premises, triggering widespread panic among residents. Moments after the initial blast, a ferocious fire erupted, fueled by highly volatile chemicals. The acrid stench of burning substances spread rapidly, causing distress to people in nearby villages and towns.

Local authorities sprang into action without delay. Nagar Parishad President Raj Vijayvargiya and Vyavastha Baregama promptly dispatched fire tenders and ambulances to the site. MLA Arjun Lal Jingar alerted the district collector immediately, mobilizing a swift response.

District Collector Alok Ranjan, SP Manish Tripathi, Sub-Divisional Officer Rajesh Suwalaka, DYSP Harji Lal Yadav, and SHO Sunil Sharma led a large contingent of police and administrative officials to the scene. Additional fire brigades from Chittorgarh were rushed in to battle the raging inferno.

After hours of intense efforts, firefighters managed to douse the flames. No casualties have been reported so far, but the administration remains on high alert. Chemical safety protocols have been enforced, with instructions issued to locals and factory workers to stay cautious.

The Kapasan area is still gripped by tension, with people recounting the terrifying moments. Collector Ranjan confirmed that senior officials inspected the site and investigations into the blast’s cause are underway. Details about nearby factories are also being gathered to prevent similar incidents.

This tragic event underscores the urgent need for stringent safety measures in industrial zones handling hazardous materials. As probe continues, the focus remains on ensuring public safety and preventing future mishaps.
