To address growing law and order concerns, the Manipur government has suspended internet and mobile data services, including VSAT and VPN, for five days in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur districts. The suspension began at 11:45 PM on June 7, 2025. The government aims to prevent the spread of harmful content on social media platforms that could fuel unrest. The Home Department issued an order citing the risk of images, hate speech, and videos inciting public passions, which could destabilize the state. The district magistrates in the affected areas have issued prohibitory orders, requesting the public to comply. A curfew is in effect in Bishnupur, while other districts are limiting public gatherings.
