Man Arrested for Groping Two Women at Kolkata Hotel During Brazil Team Celebration

Kolkata police have taken a 56‑year‑old man into custody after two female patrons filed a complaint of unwanted touching inside the lobby of a five‑star hotel. The incident took place on Saturday night while members of the Brazil national football team were celebrating their friendly‑match victory at the venue.

According to the statement, the women were waiting in the hotel lobby between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. when an unidentified individual allegedly made inappropriate physical contact. The complainants felt uncomfortable and reported the matter to the nearby Pragati Maidan police station.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the hotel, cross‑checked the visual evidence with the victims' descriptions, and identified the suspect. The suspect, named as Palash Roy, a resident of Sector 100, Noida, was located in a hotel room and arrested on Sunday.

Additional inquiries are underway to determine whether any further offenses occurred during the celebration. Police said that once the forensic and video analysis are completed, appropriate legal action will follow.
