On hearing the noise, GRP jawans chased the young man and arrested him. The accused is a resident of Khargone. He is studying B.Tech while living in Sagar.

GRP TI Motiram Chaudhry said that on Thursday night Mamta, wife of Bharat Yadav, 50 years old, resident of Gandhinagar, Gujarat was sitting on platform number one waiting for the train.

At that time a young man came near her and snatched the gold chain from her neck and ran away. When the woman raised an alarm, GRP and RPF jawans chased the accused youth and arrested him from outside the station.

The accused has given his name as Pawan son of Suresh, resident of Khargone. Pawan told during interrogation that he is studying B.Tech while staying in Sagar. He came to Ujjain on Thursday afternoon.

He did not have money for studies and expenses. That is why he committed the crime of chain snatching. Police say that a case has been registered against the accused. However, no criminal record of him has been found.
