The 71 year old woman said in the court – ‘I am tired of dating for 11 years… that ganja was mine only’

The court gave one day punishment to the elderly woman accused. A case was going on against an elderly woman for possessing ganja. Frustrated with the long trial, the woman confessed to the crime.

After getting the date for the court date for the last 11 years, the 71 year old woman told the judge that she is tired and does not have the courage to face any more trial, admitting that yes, that drug ganja was mine. You can punish me with whatever punishment you deem appropriate. Hearing this, the court sentenced the old woman to one day’s imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

In fact, the old woman was devastated because her case was going on in the Judicial Magistrate Court for 11 years. When the turn came for the verdict, the court said that the special court has the right to try the amount found in the woman’s possession. The old woman became so desperate in the special court that she herself confessed to the crime. The woman confessed to the crime before Special Judge NDPS in the District Court.

The woman was accused of possessing one kilogram of ganja

71 year old Badami Bai, resident of Hazira, was accused of possessing one kilo of ganja. For the last 11 years, he faced trial in this case in the Judicial Magistrate’s Court. When it came to the verdict, the court said that it is for the court of the special judge to decide to try it according to the quantity of the drug. At this the old woman became extremely frustrated and exhausted and confessed to her crime.

However, during the hearing of the case, Additional Public Prosecutor Dharmendra Kumar Sharma told the court that such criminals affect the entire society and they should be given strict punishment.

Police had received information about possession of ganja

In August 2013, Gwalior police station had received information that Badami Bai resident of Gospura number one was keeping ganja in his house to sell illegally. Police reached the spot and searched the house and found about one kilo of ganja in a room of his house. After the case was registered, it reached before the Judicial Magistrate.

Lest I die before the verdict

After the court’s decision, the woman expressed concern and said that plates had been inserted in her legs. Still, she has been attending the hearing regularly, but after facing the hearing for 11 years, if it takes more time for the decision to come again, then it is possible that she may die before the decision.
