State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal: In the interest of farmers, the central government has reduced the export duty on onion from 40 percent to 20 percent. The farmers of the country and the state will get direct benefit of this decision of the government. Due to increased irrigation capacity in Madhya Pradesh, onion is produced on a large scale. By reducing the export duty, farmers will get increased price for their produce.

On Saturday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan for this decision and said that this decision is in the interest of farmers. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for another decision taken by Prime Minister Modi in the interest of farmers and said that the increase in basic duty on oilseeds and edible oils by the Central Government will increase the demand for all types of oil.

He said that the basic duty on oil of mustard, sunflower, groundnut, soybean etc. has been increased to 32 percent. The support price for procurement of soybean has been fixed at Rs 4,892, which will also benefit the farmers.
