Shashikant Tiwari, Naidunia: Bhopal. 11 terrorists of the banned organization Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), lodged in the Central Jail of Bhopal, want to stay in Sabarmati Jail of Gujarat. This is the same jail, where in the year 2013, SIMI mastermind Safdar Nagori and other terrorists had planned to escape by making a tunnel in the jail. A tunnel of about 20 feet length was also dug. Meanwhile, a jail security guard who had gone to pluck papaya got wind of this. Where the papaya fell, there was an end of the tunnel, on top of which an iron plate was placed.
court hearing soon
The petition of Madhya Pradesh government in the matter of shifting of SIMI terrorists is to be heard in Gujarat High Court on September 30. In 2008, SIMI terrorists were lodged in Sabarmati jail in connection with the serial bomb blast case in Ahmedabad. Even in Madhya Pradesh, after crimes were registered against some of them, they were brought to Bhopal from Sabarmati Jail in 2017. Safdar Nagauri was also included in these.
The petition was filed four years ago
All of them had filed a petition in the special TADA court of Ahmedabad about four years ago, demanding to be shifted to Sabarmati jail. His reasoning behind this was that he was not safe in Bhopal jail. Here they are kept under house arrest. Kept in darkness. Their rights to religious freedom are being taken away. He had also said that he could be encountered while being taken to appear in the court, due to which his hearing has started being conducted from the jail itself through video conferencing. He has also agitated several times in jail.
On his petition, the TADA court had also ordered to shift him to Sabarmati jail. To stop this, the Madhya Pradesh government has filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court, from where there is a moratorium on the shifting of terrorists. The hearing in the case is scheduled to take place on September 30. Let us tell you that out of these 11 terrorists, six including Nagauri have been sentenced to death in the Ahmedabad bomb blast case in February 2022, on which the terrorists have filed a pardon petition.
